Culinary Career At Retirement-1.

I always dreamed of retiring. As a child growing up I knew that retirement meant the "LIFE OF RILEY". No more work, just relax and enjoy life. Join a club, maybe a bridge club, Travel, and everything else that doesn't include work.
Boy, have things changed!. It's 2009 and retirement for me doesn't exist. I worked all my life in Retail, I worked from Counter Sales, Retail On A Cruise Ship,Retail Store Manager to Retail Filed Sales Manager. I always wanted to be a Chef, but my career in retail with years invested, I didn't see how could make the change finical. The 2009 comes and I was in a mass lay off, 135 of our company employee's were all laid off, no advance notice. There reason "The Economy"
I felt scared, lost, detached, dislocated from the work world. I have spent months looking for work. I drove miles for interviews, one day I was driving on the freeway to an interview, my back tire blew off while I was in the fast lane, my first experiences controlling a car with 3 wheels to safety.
I have come to the terms that I need to depend on me!
I have a plan for my self. The Three P's; 1.Passion,2.Plan,3.Pro Active
PASSION: Cooking
PLAN: Research Cooking schools, time sensitive goals.
Pro -Active: Reach out-calls,visiting schools, asking a lot of questions, getting to know the world of Culinary.
I bought a few Culinary books, I didn't know where to start, but the first book I bought was the right one for me. "The Making Of A Chef,"by Michael Ruhlman. This is a great book, gave me so much insight in Culinary training & Skills.

I'm going to school today, signing up for fall semester in Culinary.

I toured the top Culinary schools, I have to find a Culinary program that I can manage $. I have the time, but not the $.
